Anatomy and Physiology Course:
Before you go onto your practical day you will need to have completed the Anatomy & Physiology Theory part of the course. This is essential for your practical training day. This will cover all of the anatomy and physiology required for the Level 2 and 3 National Occupational Standards (NOS) for beauty, nails and holistic therapy treatments. This will take 30 hours to complete. It will require a half day classroom attendance and the rest will be completed online. After completion you will gain a recognised Anatomy certificate.

How will I be assessed?
Throughout the duration of this course you will be assessed by a range of tutor marked assignments. You will send your coursework via email or post, whichever is easier for you. Your personal tutor will then mark your work and send it back to you with feedback. After you have completed the massage theory for this course, you will then proceed onto the online Gti anatomy and physiology learning section. To pass this you will be required to take an online exam. Once you have successfully completed both of these parts of the course, you can then progress onto your 3 days practical training.
You have 12 months from the date of enrolment to complete your course. This gives you enough time to work at your own pace without any strict deadlines and timetables. Perfect if you have a busy lifestyle and want to study around your other commitments.
Our Body Massage course allows you to study by distance learning. This means you control your learning, so you can study from home, on your commute or anywhere for that matter. You’ll also receive 12 months dedicated tutor support to help you progress with your studies. You’ll be able to contact your personal tutor by email, so help is only a click away. Receiving your course materials is easy and hassle-free - they’ll be delivered straight to your door or via email.
The Anatomy and Physiology section of this course is only to be studied online and you will find that it is written and illustrated with an audio soundtrack. You will also receive a copy of the Guild’s full colour 480-page anatomy and physiology text book to help you with your studies.
This course includes 3 days practical training to help put your knowledge to practice. You will have a choice of over 20 venues across the UK in major cities, so you decide where you take them. The 3 practical days will be split rather than taking place over 3 consecutive days, so you can choose when you take them. Minimising impact on working and family life.
At the end of this course successful learners will receive a Certificate of Achievement by ABC Awards and a Learner Unit Summary (This lists details of all the units you have completed as part of your course).
The course itself has been designed by The College of Beauty Therapists to meet specific learners’ or employers’ requirements. The course has been endorsed under the ABC Awards’ Quality Licence Scheme. This means The College of Beauty Therapists have undergone external quality checks to ensure that the organisation and the courses’ it offers meet a high standard. Regular reviews of our courses are carried out as part of the endorsement process.
The completion of this course alone does not lead to an Ofqual regulated qualification, but may be used as evidence of knowledge and skills towards regulated qualifications in the future. The unit summary can be used as evidence towards your Recognition of Prior Learning if you wish to progress your studies in this sector.

ABC Awards are a national awarding organisation that have years of experience in developing and awarding high quality vocational qualifications across a wide range of industries. They have a comprehensive portfolio of over 650 Ofqual regulated qualifications on the national Qualifications and Credit framework (QCF) for all ages and abilities post-14.
The Anatomy and Physiology theory part of this course will be accredited by The Guild of Beauty Therapists. Guild Accredited courses are recognised throughout the industry for their content and delivery. Once completing this practical day you will be able to obtain insurance and membership from the Guild which will enable you to carry out and charge for treatments on members of the public.
This will cover all of the anatomy and physiology required for the Level 2 and 3 National Occupational Standards (NOS) for beauty, nails and holistic therapy treatments. Once you have completed this part of the course you can apply for full guild membership (which includes insurance cover for over £6 million of treatment, public and product liability.
The Swedish body and Indian head massage practical days will be accredited by Professional Beauty Direct. Professional Beauty Direct have arranged insurance cover for over 11,000 salon owners and individual beauticians, nail technicians and hair stylists, most of which now manage their policies online. Once accredited, you will benefit from being affiliated to Professional Beauty and Professional Beauty Direct Insurance.

What are the requirements to study this course?
The online test for the Anatomy and Physiology theory, currently do not run on some mobile devices such as iPhones and iPads and are not compatible with Google Chrome browsers. If in doubt, please contact us for advice.
Please note that you must have completed your practical day in Swedish Body Massage before you attend the Hot Stone Massage practical.
On your hot stone practical day you will be required to bring with you the hand sanitiser and massage oil which we supply you with. You will be sent these when you have booked onto this practical day. You will also need to bring with you 2 bath towels and 6 face cloths, which you will have to purchase yourself.
You may be required to bring you own model on your practical days.
Is there a time limit for the completion of this course?
You may start the course at any time and have 12 months to complete this course from the date of enrolment. This course is flexible, so you can study at a time convenient to you.
How do I arrange my practical days?
Once you have passed your written and online assignments, you may book your practical days. You have the choice of over 20 centres to choose from to take your practical training days. Simply call us whenever you're ready and we'll help arrange this for you. One of the practical days require you to have hand sanitiser and massage oil, which is why we will send these out to you once you are booked onto your practical day.
